In 2024, we will feature a mix of virtual and in-person breakfasts featuring incredible speakers on timely subjects, such as the growing workforce in renewable energy, the elections, issues of racial injustice, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and more.
OUR NEXT MEETING:
January ‘24 Breakfast
China, Ukraine, The Middle East, & The Fate of NATO
China, Ukraine, the Middle East, the fate of NATO: These are just four of the challenges facing the next president of the United States. Presuming the candidates will be the same as in 2020, how will Joe Biden or Donald Trump deal with them, based on their past performances and current positions? Elaine Luria, a military and foreign policy expert in Congress and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, will offer their views on what confronts the next President and Congress.
Friday, January 19th

MEETING RECAP:
A discussion about criminal justice reform & the lives of Travis May + Darrell Redmond.
We were thrilled to welcome Travis May & Darrell Redmond to our October DemBiz breakfast for an inspiring conversation about their lives and what they have overcome. Our own DemBiz board member Joel Rubin moderated this discussion:
Darrell Redmond and Travis May understand the dysfunction in too many poor African American families and neighborhoods. It led the Hampton Roads natives (Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, respectively) into lives of crime and a combined 50 years in state prisons, from which they emerged, remarkably, changed men.
Thanks for joining us, Travis & Darrell! We hope to see you at the next meeting!

EARLIER THIS YEAR:
A Toast to Elaine Luria!
Our community and country are better and stronger because of Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s service in Congress. We were grateful to raise a glass in her honor tonight at our first event of 2023! She’s led a distinguished career in the Navy, as a small business owner, and in Congress, but — spoiler alert — she’s not done yet! Whatever her next call-to-service may be, we’re looking forward to supporting her!
Thank you to our wonderful hosts at Waterman’s and thank you to all who were able to join us this evening! Stay tuned for our next event!
